Lester Ray Miller III is the director of choral activities at Ankeny High School in Ankeny, IA and a doctoral candidate in choral conducting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Besides overseeing all aspects of the choral department, he is the director of the Ankeny High School Concert Choir, the varsity show choir, Visual Adrenaline, and the Varsity Men’s Chorus.
While at UN-L Lester served as the assistant conductor of University Singers (the top choral ensemble), assistant director of the Men’s Chorus, and director and stage band conductor of the Big Red Singers show choir. He has prepared choruses for performances of many choral masterworks, while also serving as chorus master for several operas. He is currently finishing his dissertation on a Vesper Service of Heinrich Biber. An active arranger and editor, Lester has experience in teaching singers of all grade levels having previously taught K-12 vocal music. He received his Bachelors degree in music education from York College and his Masters degree in choral conducting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Lester’s wife, Pamela, is finishing her final year of doctoral work in vocal performance, and has a private voice studio out of their home. Together they have a daughter, Madelynn Joy.
